text-align: center;">A few waders have shown in the shores of the reservoir, Balsa de Zolina, lately during the peak of the prenuptial migration of birds heading northwards a few making an stopover to fuel up their fat reserves and this improving their chances to continue in their challenging journeys.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Numbers have been quite discrete in general ,with ten species recorded, beeing the highlight a solitary Temmincks stint and a ferrougineus sandpiper,it was also a lonely individual.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As usual <b>common redshanks </b>and <b>comon sandpipers</b> have been the most numerous species, but this year the presence of sanderlings and greenshanks has been quite remarcable.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Also mention a solitary <b>knot</b> that was seen by other person the first week of may, and the absence of any records of spotted redshank or any kind of stilt.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; Is a very scarce vagrant in Europe with much less records than its closer relative, the long billed. </p><p>The lonely bird shared the muddyflats of a damm (Embalse Aguilar de Campoo) with other birds like some little stints, various dunlins and a dozen of ringed plovers. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPKUMLfWp2TsZv6_CnxjB6FvMA_NRvRzjjOn0t0x21b10RPR5IaQVQitKMdBw6coOvq2v7hOusRDrohktBZpkGkpgW4TU6pX-Eg77dBjY1kMZ5MJBcrwzGiAZAZpb3unvtHtp-Okz8QnY/s640/IMG_20210924_130107_237.webp" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="427" data-original-width="640" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPKUMLfWp2TsZv6_CnxjB6FvMA_NRvRzjjOn0t0x21b10RPR5IaQVQitKMdBw6coOvq2v7hOusRDrohktBZpkGkpgW4TU6pX-Eg77dBjY1kMZ5MJBcrwzGiAZAZpb3unvtHtp-Okz8QnY/w640-h428/IMG_20210924_130107_237.webp" width="640" /></a></div> <p></p><blockquote><p> <b> Linmodromus griseus.</b></p></blockquote><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/NBpJEBhYpIc" width="320" youtube-src-id="NBpJEBhYpIc"></iframe></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;"> VIDEO</p><p style="text-align: center;">Panoramic landscape views.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/OTpMroQbNyU" width="320" youtube-src-id="OTpMroQbNyU"></iframe></div><br /><p> VIDEO</p><p style="text-align: center;">Feeding action.</p><p style="text-align: center;">During tbe time I spent in the spot, the bird showed more and more confident and gave me good chances for quality observations and pictures for the card. </p><p style="text-align: center;">The shorebird keep feeding frantically continuosly, with very fast head movements and short runs. I have known that a dunlin and a few avocets were detected this weekend, but I was unable to twitch them.... </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhI2w1pKHrtHNKSBK0Fzu0PLiU1wqWWEfos9DWs9cO3H01ukH8Yb4H4SvJkpk2NjVuhCFRqA2MBS_T0EYacXf38j-z3hDvv5MRv1xjSQahSJGs5sJz9NqBI5YC8p4BytQW0I4-k_zZ7w4/s1642/IMG_20210315_194834.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1642" data-original-width="1390" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhI2w1pKHrtHNKSBK0Fzu0PLiU1wqWWEfos9DWs9cO3H01ukH8Yb4H4SvJkpk2NjVuhCFRqA2MBS_T0EYacXf38j-z3hDvv5MRv1xjSQahSJGs5sJz9NqBI5YC8p4BytQW0I4-k_zZ7w4/w542-h640/IMG_20210315_194834.jpg" width="542" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Nice migratory flock of wary and nervous birds. </div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxWLeofUHNTWna0l-BpKVkgC_bJ7j_Jf9gxjkEyeB2hfbtJZRrpLlSiyKjkabMMuo_9-kvhXdQg7hASa2CQaA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>VIDEO</b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b><br /></b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b><br /></b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>If you want to participate, here are the instructions to follow (click the link):</b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b><br /></b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b><span style="font-size: x-large;"><a href="https://es.worldshorebirdsday.org/eurasian-shorebird-survey">https://es.worldshorebirdsday.org/eurasian-shorebird-survey</a></span></b><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b><br /></b></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNacoudxGN6zEjEtki8JwoVDIoThtbgehkj8pTpHysXVEENAOzdET8uI_yonD0ykZNJibbSgCTriJ3emZLk20bpSIYAv9C2Ez4NkOmDEkLpiQHRnfFyFe6cq0i74KhI1aKof6g82ebPiw/s278/survey.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="181" data-original-width="278" height="260" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNacoudxGN6zEjEtki8JwoVDIoThtbgehkj8pTpHysXVEENAOzdET8uI_yonD0ykZNJibbSgCTriJ3emZLk20bpSIYAv9C2Ez4NkOmDEkLpiQHRnfFyFe6cq0i74KhI1aKof6g82ebPiw/w400-h260/survey.png" width="400" /></a></div><br /><b><br /></b></div>Ornitocampero.blogspot.com.eshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11838267852682009415noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3205966968568802006.post-27932083733466274522020-10-27T05:35:00.004-07:002020-10-27T05:36:15.060-07:00Second record....<p> </p><p>Hi there!</p><p><br /></p><p>The past second of october I had the chance to locate a <b>Grey plover</b> in the northern shore of my local patch. This time it was accompanied with one ruff a two dunlins (I couldn't manage to take a photo).</p><p>This bird is the second record this year and as usually happens, a lonely bird that stays for a day or two. text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The past week I had the chance of visiting the Arguedas ricefields located one hour driving from my hometown in the southern part of the county.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">With no doubt is one of the best places for the postnuptial migration and atracts a nice quantity of different birds including shorebirds if the land fields offer the adecuate level of water and tranquility.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Sadly tha majority of them were dry out and with any perspectives of water flodding from the local owners I only prospected one small ricefield that shelter the few remaining birds.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As usual in this situations and time of the year, not great numbers of them but a nice diversity of species sharing the same location.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; Hello.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here we continue staying at home with this covid problem that bother us all.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have continued recording at night to evaluate the night migration that takes place around my house.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This time (other many sessions not) I could record a a common sandpiper, a quite usual wader in the areas and rivers nearby ,so it wasn't really a surprise but of course something to remark in my "home"recording list with a red tick.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Is the third type of wader that I record , before one stone curlew and green sandpiper flew around.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe frameborder="0" height="220" scrolling="no" src="https://www.xeno-canto.org/550238/embed" width="340"></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The call at night sounds equal to the one at day time.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />
Nowadays with the coronavirus problem around the world, doing nocturnal bird recording is an interesting option.<br />
<br />
The past two nights, I had the chance of recording two green sandpipers in migratory active flight over my house (I live in a block in a seventh flat in Pamplona).<br />
<br />
This has been a very nice discovery and I hope that many wader types will fly over my house in the coming prenuptial migratory period.....<br />
<br />
As usual, greens, the first ones to move and also the first ones to come back,some even in mid june!!!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This week it's has been quite messy with the weather around here, with continuous showers and very cloudy grey skies, forming a formidable barrier in the nearby Pyrenees mountain range that doesn't permit the migratory birds continue with their journey to the north of Europe. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is one of the main reassons to preserve those valuable biotopes!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In this situation, numerous groups of <b><i>BT Godwits</i></b> gathered in Zolina's reservoir, counting more than a hundred (120) (the same two days in Loza's reservoir located 10 km away similar numbers were registered).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In my local patch, a few <i><b>common redshanks</b></i> (5),with a dozen <i><b>dunlins</b></i> and a solitary<i><b> ringed plover</b></i> were lingering between their "long legged" relatives in the northern shore crope fields.</div>

Good morning!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yesterday I went to my local patch ,Zolina's reservoir, to check what was going around, since it was a long time ago from my last visit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In this occasion, as usual, I didn't have to much time and I decided to place my telescope not very close to the shoreline (also to rerspect the birds resting). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As soon as I started sweeping with the lens through the north coast, two small silouettes were moving quickly with sort sprints in a muddy patch. I zoomed fast and there they were a total of seven <b>ringed plovers</b> with three <b>dunlins</b> (those were sleeping). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Those dates are appropiate to observe the first prenuptial birds in their migration journey to their northern breeding territories.</div>

Hi there!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The past weekend I made a country tour around <b><i>Figarol </i></b>ricefields located in the south east of Navarra, accompanied with my dad and sons. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We are already in winter, and the chances of detecting some waders,moustly lapwings are big, because this area is a wintering habitat with suitable flodded ricefields that offer what this kind of birds need to survive in those cold days.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Not many species are observed, but sometimes there is a surprise with a nice group of <b><i>dunlins</i></b> or <b><i>black tailed godwits</i></b> lingering around the different patches.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

They stay together in groups but individually they keep a "respect" distance when feeding.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
I also saw four nervous <b>green sandpipers </b>in a quite wide water poodle.<br />

That's all for today!!</div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy new year to everyone!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Tha past six of January I was able to detect a very confiding turnstone that was having a rest in the concrete walls of the quay.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I tried to detect more turnstones or with great luck some purple sandpipers but there weren't any.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This winter we are "suffering" very mild temperatures and calm ocean that don't help for those objectives.....</div>
<br />

Hi there!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The past 22 of december with my dad and son riding the car alongside the ricefields located in Alera I could count more than a hundred lapwings and walking around about fifty ruffs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Those fields are very important during the winter period and huge flocks of those birds are easily seen flying around the diferent areas trying to find the more suitable mudflats to linger around.</div>

Hi there!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yestarday a made a short vist to my LP and and when I started "sweeping" the east coast close to a swan and three yellow legged gulls, I saw a nice group of fourteen avocets resting inside the shallow waters (they were very far away and probably there was one more...difficult to asses).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Always a nice surprise around here because they are not common visitors.</div>

Hello there! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This past weekend I had the opportunity to visit the ricefields located in Arguedas village in the southern part of my county, Navarra. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Those fields are very important during the migration period and in the winter seasson a few stay around. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
During the morning, better said the two hours that I stayed around I only saw a pair of shorebirds, a green sandpiper and a dunlin. I found the two birds in a quite big water puddle close to a pig farm. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The recent showers have created this atractiv site and as usual the opportunistic tringa was already there. The dunlin presence puzzled my a bit more, due to their preference to other kind of muddflats. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Both waders stay quite close to each other but the green mobbed the calidris when they got to close. This behaviour is typicall from the tringa as they are less social birds. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I could manage to take a few pics without disturbing them and I left the place with the aim of finding more shorebirds in the bast ricefields around. After a while I was unsuccesfull and had to go back home. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
