Pectoral Sandpiper at Zolina reservoir

Last saturday (100916) my friend and local patch mate Mikelgar found a Pectoral Sandpiper in the south deck accompannied by two Common Sandpipers and a Greenshank (this bird has been here since the 31 of August and it seems that is going to remain more time if weather conditions stay stable).

When I arrived to the site, I soon saw the bird clearly feeding in the small waves that appear against the concrete wall with a confident attitude. It flew away a couple of times but still remained at a reasonable distance, enough to observe all the details of this rare bird in my county, Navarra/Nafarroa. (in the reservoir's blog there are three entrances).See it here below (link):

As the ID questions were already clear thanks to the concise descriptions of the finder, I only tried to observe the juvenile characteristiques of this young bird (in Asturias another juvenile bird appeared the same days..).

It was curious also to ear the voice as it moved from one place to the other that sounded as a Kricket and every time it flew it produced the claim.

Upwards style to stay at look out.

It used the iron structure to rest a couple of times (this belong to an ancient minery equipment).

The feather design of the upperpart help in the identification.
